What the QR code does

The QR code encodes a standard wa.me click-to-chat link. When someone scans it with their phone camera, WhatsApp opens a chat with your number, with your pre-filled message ready to send. There is no tracking in the code and it does not expire.

SVG or PNG?

• SVG is a vector file. Use it for anything printed (flyers, packaging, shop windows, posters) because it stays sharp at any size.
• PNG is a bitmap. Use it for websites, slides and social posts.

Placement and print checklist

1. Print the code at least 2 cm (about 0.8 in) wide, bigger for posters or things scanned from a distance.
2. Keep a clear white margin around it; the download includes one.
3. Use dark code on a light background. Low contrast and busy images behind it make scanning unreliable.
4. Put a short call to action next to it, such as "Scan to chat with us on WhatsApp".
5. Scan it with at least two different phones before you print a large run.
6. Use a different pre-filled message per placement so you can see which one brings chats.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR code free to use commercially? Yes. You are encoding your own link; there is no watermark and no account.

Will it stop working? The code contains the link itself, not a redirect through our servers, so it keeps working as long as the number is active on WhatsApp.

Can I change the message later? The message is part of the code, so a new message means a new code. If you may change it, leave the message empty.

Can I use the code for a WhatsApp Business API number? Yes, as long as the number is registered on WhatsApp. The link works the same.
